Henkelman Family
Dave Henkelman is in the CCU now. This week he is undergoing many tests evaluating him for transplant.
His kidney function remains a concern. Increasing dosages of IV medication are not yet bringing the values down to a range where he would be considered for another heart transplant.
Please pray that his kidneys would respond well and soon!

Dave Henkelman has been admitted to the Cardiac Ward at the St. Boniface as his heart function has deteriorated.
He is struggling with shortness of breath. Doctors have begun the process of seeing whether he is a candidate for another heart transplant. They are waiting for a bed in the Intensive Care Unit in order to be able to give him IV medications that will help his heart pump better.
Please pray for healing, wisdom and guidance for Dave, Heidi and the doctors.

Henkelman Family
After 5 weeks in hospital, Dave came home today. He is to have limited people contact due his risk of infection/illness because his white blood cell count is very low. He has a decreased heart function and only time will tell what or if any improvement happens. Pray for the Drs as they continue to adjust medications and closely monitor Dave's health over the next number of months. Pray for increased heart function and strength as he recouperates at home.

Henkelman Family
There was a glimmer of hope Dave would have been able to come home this weekend. However, his white blood cell count is too low. This coupled with other blood markers that are low also, he is much more at risk of infection or catching a bug from people visiting the ward. As a result, when he leaves his room now, has to wear a mask. Please pray that the white blood cell count and other important blood markers will improve into a safer zone. Pray for wisdom for the Drs. as they add, remove, and adjust medications. Much of what Dave is going through is new territory for them.

Henkelman Family
The Henkelman Family is grateful for your prayers. Dave has been moved from the CCU onto the cardiac ward. They were able to wean him off the powerful IV heart drug that helped his heart beat more efficiently. Please pray for the next phase of his recovery which will involve the balancing of various drugs to hopefully regain more heart function and physical strength.

Henkelman Family
Today marks the end of Dave Henkelmans second week in hospital.
While progress has been made - relief from shortness of breath and less fatigue - his heart function has not yet really changed.
He is looking at several more weeks of hospitalization, three months at least of various drug therapies and not until 6 months from now will we know how far his heart will recover. This is where we appreciate your prayers:
- for the heart muscle to heal well and fully
- for protection from infection as he is so immunosuppressed

Patti Bonas
Please remember Patti Bonas in your prayer. She sends her love from the HSC where she is experiencing some healthcare concerns. Her arthritis is getting worse and there are some homecare challenges to resolve before she can be at home permanently. Pray also for Dieter as he cares for her needs, that God would lead them to some homecare women to assist as they move forward.

Dave Henkelman - Treatment to remove antibodies from Dave's blood (which the Drs. believe is causing rejection in his heart) began this morning. Will continue for 4-5 days. To be followed up with further treatments to replace with good antibodies.
Dave has been moved to ICU. Please pray for the doctors as they proceed with his care.
Pray for the family that they feel God’s love and strength for the situation they find themselves in.
