WRBC @ Prayer: Attawapiskat Suicide Crisis
Attawapiskat is a Cree First Nation Community in northern Ontario with a population of approximately 2000 residents. The community has declared a state of emergency as they deal with an epidemic of suicide attempts among its young people.
Since September 2015, over 100 suicide attempts have been made with 28 being in the month of March alone. Both provincial and federal government response teams have been sent to the community to deal with the crisis. While these measures will assist the community in dealing with the emergency situation that exists today, a long term plan must be developed to address the suicide problem.
What to pray for....
*The people of Attawapiskat particularly young people who have a sense of hopelessness and consider suicide a solution to feelings of desperation.
*Health workers in the community who have been working tirelessly in the community. Pray for strength, wisdom and insight as they address the immediate needs facing the community.
*Long term solutions to address the problems faced by Attawapiskat and so many First Nations communities which include poverty, inadequate housing, contaminated water and a lack of educational and employment opportunities.
*Sensitive and compassionate hearts for those of us in the non-Aboriginal community toward our fellow First Nations citizens.

Steve Morris
God is good! Thank you to all that have been praying for Steve Morris's father (Norm). Surgery went well Sunday Feb 28th and motor control quickly rebounded. The cause was a severe concussion due to two falls, and total recovery will be quite slow and his neurosurgeon has put severe limits upon his fathers activities for three months.
Please pray for continued healing, patience in the waiting and peace that God has all of this in His absolute control. Also pray for strength for Steve's mother (Shirley) in the extra caring required in this situation.

Steve and Barb Morris
Please pray for Steve (and Barb) Morris' father.
He is in the midst of a rapid decline in his health to the point that he has been rushed to the hospital this (Sunday) morning due to lack of motor control on the right side of his body.
He has received a CT scan at Kelowna General this morning, and has extensive bleeding between his brain and the skull.
Doctors and surgeons will be drilling a hole - potentially two - to relieve pressure on Sunday afternoon while Steve and Barb are in flight returning from vacation.
Please pray for wisdom for the doctors, strength and peace for both Steve's mom and dad, and for the Lord's presence to be palpable.

Jeff & Susan Kirton
Jeff and Susan Kirton - specific prayer requests:
- pray that the doctors will be able to remove the ventilator in order to do a tracheotomy (hopefully Thursday) - They need to get the ventilator tube out before they can put the new tube in - it takes 4 to 5 minutes to do it and right now Melissa can only breathe on her own for about 90 seconds.
- pray for healing in her lungs
- pray for safety in travel as they (or just Susan) head back to Edmonton
