Irma Kelm
On Wednesday, Irma Kelm passed away into glory. Another faithful servant has gone home to be with Jesus. We are deeply saddened at our loss but we have peace in knowing that she has joyfully entered into the beautiful eternity that she longed for.
A small funeral is being planned for Friday, January 29th at 2 pm. Prior to that, a link will be provided that will allow others to view the service online. A larger memorial will likely also take place in the future when covid guidelines allow.
Irma has long been a pillar in the life of Whyte Ridge Baptist Church and she will be greatly missed.

Donna Hartle's mother passed away on December 27th. Their family will be having a small graveside ceremony on Monday. Please pray for the family during this challenging time.

Last night Willie Elke passed away into glory and is now in the presence of Jesus. Please pray for Grace and for their family at this time, particularly as Grace is currently in hospital herself due to heart and blood pressure issues. Funeral plans are yet to be determined.

Please pray for Grant and Pauline Gilbert and family. Grant's mother was taken to St. Boniface Hospital several weeks ago with breathing issues and since has had two heart attacks and is now on a ventilator and dialysis. The prognosis does not look favourable. Please pray for her, her husband and the family at this time.

Yesterday, we received the phone call from Jeremy that we never wanted to get. We are shaken, but not crushed. The following was submitted to our church prayer chain.
Jeremy and Lana Krahn: (12/23)—Dr. Waltz called this morning and told us that the team in Ann Arbor will be reaching out to us to schedule open heart surgery on Savannah sometime in the next couple of months. The time has come to fix her supravalvular aortic stenosis to prevent any damage to her heart. Up until this point her heart has been tolerating the extra work quite well; no thickening, no enlargement. The intervention will be done to fix the aorta to keep stress off an otherwise healthy heart. We solicit your prayers for a smooth trip out to Michigan in the midst of COVID closures. Recovery time of at least a week is expected. Thanks, The Krahn Family.

From Donna Hartle: Mom is now on comfort care as she is just not doing well. Please pray she will be comfortable and pass peacefully into the arms of Jesus in His timing. My sister & I are both allowed to visit now…… at least until Monday. The nurse told Carol last night that they got a memo that visitors wouldn’t be allowed as of Monday, but she wasn’t sure whether that would apply to us as well. So really appreciate your prayers that we would be allowed to visit and be with her for whatever time she has left. Thank you!

From Donna Hartle - Update on my mother, Elsie Muir:
CT scans showed severe arthritis throughout her lower back. Brain scan showed severe degeneration of both the front and back. They now have her on Hydromorphone regularly for the pain which seems to be helping. She has been more alert and communicating better the last couple days. We appreciate your continued prayers for her as they try to get her stronger and stabilized. She is going to need to go to a personal care home when she is ready to leave the hospital. Please pray for her to make that transition well when the time comes and that she will be able to go directly to Meadowood Manor and not have to go to an interim place first.

From Doug: Ada has requested prayer for John as he patiently waits to enter paradise. His health has not worsened these past days but he has voiced his desire for no future intervention with trips to the hospital. Ada lovingly desires to be a peaceful presence for John while at the same time acknowledging her own grief with the prospect of life without him. Please pray that they both experience God's presence and peace as they journey through John's remaining days together (this could be days or weeks).

CT scans of the brain and back showed severe arthritis throughout her lower back. Brain scan showed severe degeneration of both the front and back. The doctor was not hopeful that she will improve enough to go back to her former residence and will need to go into a PCH. They have started her on Hydromorphone regularly for the pain which seems to be helping. At least she had a better day yesterday. Your continued prayers for her are greatly appreciated as they try to get her stronger and stabilized, and that they figure out the right balance for pain management. Also pray for us as we try to choose the best PCH for her, etc.

After a few falls in her apartment late last week (no major injuries occurred), Irma Kelm is currently in Concordia hospital with hopes of regaining some of her lost strength . Irma said that she is not requesting prayer for temporary healing but for a peaceful transition into her heavenly home. Please pray for her as she anticipates, and patiently waits for Christ's grace in letting her enter paradise.

Please pray for my Mother, Elsie. She is in Victoria General Hospital with severe pain in her lower left back and hip. They initially thought the pain was from a urinary tract infection, however that is now cleared up and she is no better. Her pain is actually considerably worse. They are now going to do a CT scan. Please pray that they will find the source of the pain. Please also pray for peace and comfort for her as she goes through this alone and for wisdom for the doctors and for us as we deal with over the phone. Thank you!

John and Ada Tkachuk
Praise God that John Tkachuk has been experiencing some good days this week. He remains on Comfort Care at Meadowood but has also been seeing some continued improvement in how he has been doing, including feeling more clear and calm. Ada is grateful to God for answered prayer and wants to express thanks to all who have been praying.

A few days back John Tkachuk was not doing well, not wanting to wake up, and was taken to St. Boniface with hopes of removing some of the fluid around his stomach, legs and lungs. When the paramedics came they said his vitals were fine except for low oxygen levels. Fortunately, they were able to get those levels back up to a healthy range.
The doctor at St. B. said there was not much that could be done for John and that he would be sent back to Meadowood with Comfort Care to help him during the last days.
John is back at Meadowood and seems to be doing better but is not out of the woods.
Ada was able to be with him today from 10 am - 3 pm. She said that John is no longer having bad dreams and seems more peaceful. They continue to covet your prayers.

Please pray for Mandy Hogue who is in the St. Boniface Hospital with complications from a hernia operation she had 10 years ago. The mesh is damaged, causing infection. She is on IV antibiotics and once the infection has settled down she will have surgery, which could be in the next couple of days. Please pray for God's guidance during the operation, for healing and protection.

Please pray for John Tkachuk, and his wife Ada, as he has been experiencing disorientation the last few days along with nightmares that are causing him to feel fearful and anxious. Ada feels that these dreams may be related to his younger years in Poland. Helen O'Neill
From Helen O'Neill: My daughter has come through her surgery with flying colours. The surgeon called me this afternoon to let me know that they had removed the tumour and all of the diseased tissue surrounding it. All we need now is the pathology on the tissue so that she can receive the proper treatments. She will be in hospital till Monday when hopefully she will be allowed to go home. Please keep up your prayers as she will need then in the coming days and weeks. Pray for a positive outcome.

From Helen O'Neill: Please pray for my daughter Lisa as she is having surgery this morning to remove cancer cells. She has been diagnosed with vulvar cancer and if not dealt with in a timely manner can cause other types of cancer to develop as a result. The survival rate for this type of cancer is not great but I’m praying that things will go well and that she will recover and in time go into remission.

Re Sheilla Henry's grandson: Praise God that Hayden’s procedure went well today. He will be monitored for the next 5-7 days to identify the area causing the seizures. After that, the doctors will decide if he is able to have further surgery to treat the affected area.
