A quick update on my Dad. He had some tests done in the last week and a half because of the pain he was experiencing in his side. Thankfully, nothing is leaking from where they reconstructed his bile duct. He is also in less pain and feeling stronger. He was even driving for the first time a few days ago and was able to get his first Covid vaccine!
Today he has his first appointment at the cancer hospital. They are going to talk about the tests he had done and do an evaluation. It is also possible they will give him some options for further treatment. Please pray for this appointment, for wisdom for those taking care of Dad, that his test results show everything is normal, and for discernment for Mom and Dad as they look at next steps.
Once again, we as a family are so grateful for your on-going prayers!
Paulo and I are almost 100% recovered from Covid. We still feel more tired than usual, but nothing too extreme. I am still getting my sense of smell and taste back - I am at about 40% at this point. I am also experiencing hair loss (beyond the usual), however I'm told this is only temporary.
Blessings,
Lyndell

Please pray for John as he is isolated in his room due to two of the Meadowood staff having contracted Covid. Ada is concerned for his mental health as he has been experiencing dreams/hallucinations and finding it hard to know what is real or not.
His oxygen levels are currently low and this is being addressed.
The doctor will be seeing him tomorrow and will be preforming tests.
Till this past Wed, Ada was able to see John twice a day. Please pray for her as she waits to be able to see John again.

Hello Everyone,
The pain in Dad's side has never gone away, so his surgeon decided to have him do 3 exames to take a closer look. He was able to do all three and tomorrow morning he has an appointment with the surgeon to get his results.
Please pray that the pain is nothing serious and that everything is healing up well from the surgery. On Monday, the Cross Cancer Hospital will be getting in touch to set up an appointment.
I am hoping that I will be able to spend a couple of weeks visiting my family in Canada in July. Everything will depend on if borders are closed or not and if Canada will still be detaining international travelers on arrival.
Thank you so much for journeying with our family through this challenging time through your prayers! We are so grateful!
Blessings,
Lyndell

Bergmann Family
Church family,
There may be some who have not yet heard that, this past Sunday afternoon, Henry Bergmann went home to be with Jesus in glory.
Henry and Susan attended Whyte Ridge Baptist Church for years and were dearly loved by all. We will remember Henry for the many ways that his life evidenced his genuine love for Jesus Christ. In particular, Henry was known for his welcoming presence toward anyone who walked through the doors of our church, for his generosity in showing the love of Christ to everyone he encountered, for his genuine joy in worshipping Jesus, and for the gracious words of encouragement that he was always quick to offer.
A private memorial service is planned at Friends Funeral Service on Saturday, March 27 at 2:00 pm. The service will be live-streamed and can be viewed at https://www.friendsfs.ca/livestreaming.
Let us continue to keep Susan and all of their family in our prayers during this time.

We are so grateful for your prayers! We are doing much better and are slowly getting back to work and ministry. I imagine it will take a bit more time to fully recover, but each day we feel a bit stronger.
My Dad met with a nurse from the cancer hospital and they have decided he still needs 2 weeks at home to recover from his surgery. He has been losing weight and has no appetite. Please pray he can maintain his current weight and eat more. He also still has quite a bit of pain on his right side where his incision is which makes it difficult to sleep. We are hopeful that he starts feeling stronger and stronger in the days to come so he can start the next phase of his treatment.
Thank you so much for your prayers! God is healing us day by.

Today my parents and sister met virtually with Dad's surgeon. The surgeon is happy with Dad's recovery progress and even though Dad is still feeling very weak, that is to be expected.
We found out that Dad has bile duct cancer. It is an aggressive cancer, so that means he will need chemotherapy. The next step is making an appointment with the cancer hospital. Please pray that they are able to get an appointment as soon as possible, as this is something that should not be put off.
As for Paulo and I, we are doing better! Paulo is having a good day. I started the day struggling, but am feeling better tonight. Thank you once again for your fervent prayers

Paulo had another stable day which we are so grateful for. He was a little out of breath when he woke up but once he got moving it passed. Today was a bit more of a struggle for me. There are moments in the day, I have found it a little harder to breathe, but my oxygen saturation level continues to be good. It has been overwhelming not only because of our situation, but hearing the news about what is happening with our friends, colleagues, and friends of friends. I wish I could better express just how much your prayers are giving us strength and peace during this storm!
Thank you so much! Blessings,
Lyndell

Last night at the ER, they took Paulo’s vitals and let me know he was in observation, waiting to see the Covid specialist. They said it looked like he would be admitted.
The Covid doctor had Paulo do a gasometer test. While he wasn't happy with the results, they decided not to admit Paulo. Instead he gave Paulo a prescription for more medication and we were home by 4am.
This morning I sent the new test results to the lung specialist. He is concerned that Paulo's lungs are 60-70% compromised. We keep monitoring Paulo's blood oxygen saturation and look for signs that he might be out of breath, which he is not right now.
My situation continues to be better than Paulo's. My saturation level has even gone up.
Thank you for your prayers

We are so grateful for the prayers and messages.
This morning Paulo's blood oxygen saturation was low again. We have been able to borrow an oxygen concentrator machine and that helped his levels increase. He also had a phone appointment with a lung specialist who was pleased with the new level he is at using this machine. The doctor would like him to get a tomography tomorrow. Please pray as to the logistics of getting that done.
Thankfully, my levels are good. I have exerted all the energy I have in caring for Paulo today, so please pray for extra strength so that I don't get worse.

Doug, on behalf of Judy Lausman:
Judy had surgery this past week to place a stint in her kidneys in order to help them drain. The doctor said that one of the kidneys still looks viable.
She will be starting her chemo treatments this Friday and will have them every three weeks for 3-4 rounds if they seem to be effective.
If things go well, the plan is for Judy to then start stem-cell treatment.
Please pray for wisdom for the medical team, that infections or Covid will not occur, and for the strength, peace, hope and healing over the coming weeks.

Dad continues to recover at home without any complications. He has his first post-surgery appointment with his surgeon this next week by Zoom. Dad still feels very weak and tired but that is to be expected.
The latest news from Paulo and I is that we have both tested positive for the new Covid variante here in Brazil. Paulo has been sick for over a week and I have been unwell for almost a week so we were tested this past Thursday and got our results today. We are not sure how we got it as we are staying home as much as possible. We have both seen a doctor and have been taking medication. So far, the symptoms are moderate and so we are recovering at home.
We are so grateful for your prayers for a full recovery for all 3 of us!

From the Prayer Wall moderator:
Update: Please note that very shortly after Cathy had submitted the prayer request below that her mother Catherine passed away. She has requested this update to be added to the original submission.

Request from Cathy Lakin:
I would like to request prayer for my family.
My 94 year old mother (Catherine) is in hospital in Edmonton and she is very ill. She is unconscious and not responding to treatment. The family was given the choice of what her treatment should be none of which would give a positive outcome. We have decided that she should be kept comfortable and to leave her in God's hands.
We have decided not to travel to Edmonton partly because of Covid restrictions in the hospital and also the fact that she wouldn't know we were there. The hardest part is realizing that we are just waiting for her to die. It could be hours or it could be days.
So I would ask for peace for us and her.

Please urgently pray for my son Connor that his professors at university help him out with guiding him toward some better knowledge so that he can pass all his courses this term. He has always done so well but this last term of his degree program has been especially challenging due to the Covid19 restrictions and lack of personal contact. May Jesus please help Connor out and give him the confidence he needs to succeed in all courses this term. Thanks for praying with me.

Natalie Hagman
Please continue to keep Natalie Hagman in prayer as she continues to battle numerous chronic health issues. She asks that we as a church family could pray in regards to the following things:
- Pray for wisdom for her doctors as they treat ongoing issues with her kidneys.
- Pray for Natalie's esophagus from her throat to her stomach would work better, as it has been causing issues of pain, choking and indigestion.
- Pray for Natalie's ability to cope with the large amount of pain in her joints and spinal column
- Pray for perseverance, that Natalie can continue to rest peacefully in the Lord's care in the midst of these things.
Natalie continues to seek and trust Christ as her Saviour, Shepherd and Great Physician. Let us continue to hold her and Norm in prayer.
