WRBC 101 Orientation Class – THIS Saturday, January 18, 1-2:30 pm, Common Office Area – You are welcome to attend an afternoon of information about Whyte Ridge Baptist Church.  Whether you are new to this church or a long-time attender, this is a good opportunity to learn more about who we are, what we believe, how we operate, and ways you can serve.  For those interested in formal church membership, this seminar is also part of that process. Membership Meeting – Sunday, February 2, 12:00 pm following the morning service. Whyte Ridge Baptist Church will hold our next Membership Meeting on February 2, 2025, immediately following the morning service. The primary focus of this meeting will be the 2024 Annual Report. A meeting agenda and copies of all relevant documents will be made available in advance of the meeting.

Thank You from Our Missionaries:

Far Corners Ministry:  On behalf of Far Corners Ministry we want to say a very big “Thank You” for the very generous Christmas offering we received from the Whyte Ridge church family.  These funds cover the cost of helping children of needy pastors to have access to a better quality education that they would receive otherwise.  In some cases they are able to attend better schools and in other places where that is not an option, the children can get extra tutoring.  This results in children having the tools to complete their schooling and be able to pursue higher education.  So thanks once again for partnering with us and supporting this aspect of ministry in northeast India that is making a real difference in young lives! – In His service, Shant & Ginny Manuel

 Kids at the Ridge Programming

Kids at the Ridge Request – Trust Package Donations Needed!  

On Sunday, January 19th, as part of our lesson on trusting God (and the Israelites wandering the desert), our kids will be making a “Trust Package” containing a few basic needs for someone who needs encouragement!  They will also write a note of encouragement (or draw a picture) to put in their bags and let them know that God loves them. They can take this package home and decide who they would like to give it to. 

In order to do this activity with the kids, we are looking for some items to add to our packages!   Here are some ideas of what we need (must fit in a medium ziplock bag): band-aids, small sanitizer bottles, individual kleenex packages, gum, mentos, travel size shampoos or other toiletries etc.   Please drop off any items you can donate this Sunday or by next Sunday morning for us to use for our Trust Packages on January 19th!

Join us for our In-House night this coming Friday! We will be playing games, having snack, small groups, and we will look at one of the questions you have asked. 

Our Question this week is: “Is there an in-between between Heaven and Hell?” It’s a great question and challenging to think about. Where do we end up after this life is over? Can’t wait to dig into the Bible with you on this topic!

January 10th – Skating Night at the Forks

This Friday we will be meeting at The Forks for some Ice Skating on the River, so bring your skates, dress up cozy, and come to do some communal skating on the river. We will meet at the “Forks Market Plaza and Canopy” (google this if you’re not sure how to get there). We will be in that space from 6:30pm to 830pm! Make note of the times and let your rides know!

Growing In Grace Legal Learning Month – Thursday, January 9, 2025, 12 pm – 2 pm.  Register by January 5: Growing In Grace Registration.  Join us for our January get-together when we have Hannah Humphries (lawyer) come and share with us a legal point of view dealing with power of attorney, wills, health directives and other legal issues. Breakfast at noon is on the menu. Pre-registration and pre-payment of $10 is required.

Continue to pray for the man that God has already chosen to lead WRBC into the future. Pray that he would see the job posting and the Holy Spirit would nudge him to apply. Pray that God would prepare his heart and if appropriate, his family, for this opportunity. Pray for our staff and ministry leaders who are continuing the work God has for us at WRBC. And pray for us all as a church family, that together we would be united and patiently perseverant.

Family Support Centre is in need of soothers, newborn(0-3 month) sleepers, baby shampoo/soap and diaper cream to go in the Baby Layettes given to the moms. 

Please consider helping moms in need and drop off your items at the church in the blue bin by the mail slots.

Formula is always needed if you are able to donate (most requested brands – Enfamil, Similac & Good Start).

Christmas @ The Ridge

Kids at the Ridge Christmas Program is this Sunday, December 15 during the morning service – come and celebrate with our children! Visiting children are welcome to join our Children’s Ministry programming following the Christmas program. Full dress rehearsal will be THIS Saturday, Dec 14 at 10 am to prepare for the program.  Contact Sheilla if you need more information. 

Free Family Christmas Photos will be available to everyone in the church main foyer for the next 2 Sundays, December 15 & 22 before and after the service. Contributions to our Christmas Food Hampers encouraged. 

Plan to join us for our Christmas Eve Service at 5 pm December 24.

• The deadline for donations for 2024 tax receipting is December 31, 2024.
• All cheques must be dated no later than December 31, 2024.

We will be having our “Ladies Ensemble” performing for us and we will join them in a few carols. Turkey dinner is on the menu and we will follow it up with our favorite gift exchange game.

Volunteer Opportunity

Volunteer Opportunity

Front Desk Volunteer: We  are looking for a friendly person to cover the church office reception desk during staff meetings on Wednesdays. This volunteer position will support the ministry of the church while the church staff meet every other week on Wednesdays. Responsibilities will mainly be to greet people who come to the desk and help them with their questions or needs. This volunteer position will also include handling phone calls and taking messages. Pick up a Ministry Description and application form at the Welcome Centre, church office or by emailing volunteer@whyteridgebaptist,ca.  Deadline for applications is November 14 – applicants will be interviewed and have their references checked. Message from the Front Desk:  Have you ever walked into the church and smelled something delicious baking? In my new position at the front desk, I have the wonderful privilege of enjoying all the yummy smells coming out of the kitchen on a regular basis (once in a while I even get a free taste!) If you haven’t noticed yet that we have an Awesome Kitchen Team here at WRBC, please take note!  We have 44 people who are involved in our weekly Come To The Table ministry on Wednesday nights and many others who love to bake goodies and help prepare food in our kitchen for our many events around WRBC.  These dedicated volunteers spend time preparing the food on Tuesday or Wednesday and then serving it to our church family and guests on Wednesday nights. Great conversation happens around the table and friendships are formed and strengthened. If you haven’t experienced this yet, make sure to join us some Wednesday night. I just wanted to point out that we could not have this important ministry if we did not have such amazing volunteers. I hope you will take a minute to thank them, pray for them and encourage them in any way you can. If you are interested in becoming part of this awesome team, contact the church office or Pastor Doug.

Update from Lead Pastor Search Team  

The Lead Pastor Search Team continues to meet regularly to refine the next steps in the search process as we await the resume that matches our needs. We have had a few applicants, but none so far that warranted additional follow-up.  Please continue to pray for the person that God is preparing to send us as our next Lead Pastor, that they would see our job posting and be inspired to send us their resume. Pray for the Search Team, that we would receive God’s wisdom in evaluating each application as they are received, and to have the faith and patience to wait for the ONE whom we believe God is preparing for us.  

Thank you for your patient perseverance as we pray through this journey together.
