Sundays

Sunday Morning Services

Our services are weekly on Sundays at 10:30 am (nursery & children’s programs available).  You can also view our services online and on Facebook.

Sundays are the one time in the week where the entire church gathers together to worship God. We gather to hear the pastor share a message from the Bible, and also to connect with God through prayer and music. We desire to be genuinely God-focused and solidly Bible-based in our services, all in a warm and enjoyable family atmosphere that is friendly and welcoming to every newcomer.

We also provide age appropriate opportunities for kids’ worship during our Children’s service.

At Whyte Ridge Baptist, we believe it is deeply important to worship God, and that in fact we are made for the purpose of doing exactly that. Worshiping God can look like many things – joyfully celebrating who He is, thanking Him for what He has done, receiving wisdom from Him from the Bible, expressing to Him our heartaches and tough questions. Whatever the situation, and whatever type or style of worship we choose, we aim for worship that is a genuine expression of our hearts to our God. Our goal is ultimately to honor Him. We believe it is vital to gather together to worship Him as a church family. Most worship services at Whyte Ridge Baptist begin with a few announcements followed by a time of singing worship songs. The style of music at Whyte Ridge varies, but usually includes a band playing music to a mixture of contemporary and long loved hymns of the faith. Following the time of corporate worship, our pastor shares a message from the Bible.

Other than during special seasons of the year, our pastor leads us through a study – expository preaching – of one of the books of the Bible (example – the book of Joshua, the gospel of Mark).  To enhance our study of that book, we provide scripture study resources which can be found for free online with each audio recording of the associated week’s message.

Our regular practice is to have communion together on the first Sunday of each month.

What to Expect

Knowing something about a new situation makes it less daunting and intimidating. Hopefully, the following answers to questions people ask about attending a new church will help make your visit with us an enjoyable and enriching experience.

What about my children?

The value Whyte Ridge places on children is seen in the opportunities for fun and learning during the 10:30 am service:

  • Baby Room for parents with infants and nursing moms. The morning worship service can be heard and viewed on the video monitor in the room.
  • Nursery for children who sit independently up to the age of 2.
  • Children’s programming provided for ages 3 – grade 4.
  • 4HG: For His Glory for children in grades 5 & 6.

Programs for children from nursery age to grade four take place in our lower auditorium.  When you enter the church through the main doors, please take the stairwell to your right to access those programs. Youth in grades in grades 5 and 6 are to join the adults for the first half of the worship service (i.e until after the worship singing), at which point they will be dismissed to their own age-appropriate ministry that takes place in our main floor conference room.  On the first Sunday of each month, these students stay with the adults for the entire service as we celebrate communion together. Students from grade 7 to grade 12 stay with the adults through the entire service. These programs are led by gifted teachers who love children. Each worker in our Children’s Ministries department has been certified by taking our Plan to Protect training. We want your children to be safe when they are in our care. For more information on our children’s programs, please contact our Director of Children’s Ministries, Sheilla Taylor – phone: 204-489-3875 ext. 27 or by email.

What should I wear?

We believe God looks at the heart, not our clothes, so we encourage you to wear whatever is comfortable. We have a “come as you are” atmosphere. You will see some dressed up; some dressed casual. We have no expectations for attire.

Will I be singled out?

The short answer is no! You will be welcomed prior to the service by our ushers and after the service by the people of the church. You will not be asked to stand and introduce yourself or singled out in any other way.

Will I be asked for money?

Opportunity is given each week for those who regularly attend Whyte Ridge Baptist to give. We do not ask or expect our guests to give. Whether you give something is up to you.  If you are a visitor, you are encouraged to fill out a Welcome Card (found in the pews) and put that in the offering basket.

What else happens on Sunday mornings?

Come a few minutes early if you would like a cup of coffee before the service. Visit our Information Center following the service for a guest welcome package that includes a gift of the worship CD – To Bring You Glory, a compilation of worship music written by our Worship Pastor Kevin Klassen, and performed by various gifted members of Whyte Ridge Baptist. Below is video of the song Sovereign God from the CD.
